I Have A Problem....

I can't quit making tree cards for the Moxie Fab challenge!! What is my deal?

Here is the 1st of 2 more cards that I made the other night for Moxie Fab. I should be posting the other one tomorrow!

This card was inspired by a new blog friend of mine, Tina, who has made some of the coolest one layer cards that I have seen. I just love what she does with a white piece of cardstock and some ink! To not totally copy her... I added a layer of Kraft with a Versamark tree and the sentiment.

Speaking of the sentiment... I guess one lucky friend (ha..) will receive an Earth Day card from me whenever it rolls around!

I plan to write 'happy' on it above Earth Day before I send it, but in case it didn't look good I wanted to wait until after I took the picture! My handwriting is ok but not really 'front of a card' handwriting!

Have a great Monday!

Supplies:
Stamps - Eco Friendly (The Paper Co. Studio)
Paper - Kraft, Vintage Cream (both PTI)
Ink - Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Old Olive, Ruby Red (all SU), Chai Tea Dye (PTI), VersaMark
Other - Square Nestabilities

Wedding Gift Card Holder

Well... I told you that I was excited about these gift card holders!! I made another one and plan to make some more. I love them!! Seriously...

Here is the back... I used the same patterned paper but used the petite pattern on the front and grande on the back.
I feel the need to add something to the inside cover so I used more of the Black and White Basics paper and then added a flower and brad from my stash.

My demonstrator/friend, Joyce, has the Word Window punch that she uses to finish out the slit for the card but I don't have it so I have to just cut it with scissors! I did try to use my SU scallop circle punch instead of just a regular circle punch but that Scarlet Jewel paper is so thick that it wouldn't cut it!!

I left the backside blank so that I could use this as a card/gift card holder.
I just love these... have I said that before?

Supplies:
Stamps - Mega Mixed Messages (PTI)
Paper - Scarlet Jewel, S S White, B & W Basics (all PTI)
Ink - True Black, Chai Tea Dye (for edges) (both PTI)
Other - Nestabilities Labels One, Scarlet Jewel Ribbon (PTI), Clear Rhinestones, Flower, Brad

Another Moxie Fab card

So I decided to make another card for the Moxie Fab challenge. Have I mentioned how much I love PTIs Bitty Box Basics? I love this paper!! I also love the newest color, Scarlet Jewel. I wasn't sure if I would like it as much as some of the others but I really do!

I used one of my Unity trees on this card. I was excited to finally ink it up and use it on a card! I have had this set of trees for quite some time. It was the first Unity set that I purchased.

I am not able to get great shots of my cards these days. I am having to try and fix the coloring in Picasa before I post it. I really need a light tent. I hope that the colors look ok on your computer (if anyone is reading this). :-)

I also need a sewing machine!! I have had one of those little crafty sewing machines FOR YEARS and just recently tried to use it. Ummm... I am going to throw it away... it is a piece of junk. Oh well... I love all the stitching done on cards. It really adds so much! My friend, Courtney, just got one... maybe she will let me come try hers out!! :-)

Ok... enough rambling! Have a great day!

Supplies:
Stamps - Handwritten Notes (PTI), Giggle Grove (Unity)
Paper - Scarlet Jewel, Ripe Avocado Bitty Box Basics, Rustic Cream (all PTI)
Ink - Dark Chocolate, Ripe Avocado (both PTI)
Other - Scarlet Jewel Buttons, Dark Chocolate, Ripe Avocado, and Scarlet Jewel Ribbon (all PTI)

God's Perfect Timing

I know God's timing is perfect BUT... there shouldn't be a BUT!

I was worried, before I got pregnant with Carver, that I wasn't going to be able to have children. It wasn't as easy for me as it was for a lot of people. I knew then that God's timing is perfect but it was still hard for me to believe I would have a child. I guess I didn't know how God could give me such a blessing when I didn't deserve one. I just knew that this was going to be my 'punishment' for all of the things I had done wrong in my life.

Then I was blessed with this beautiful little boy!

Now I have been worried about having a second child. I want another baby and I want Carver to have a sibling. Michael and I tried for a while when Carver was about a year old and we didn't have much luck. TMI alert.... I had to take some medicine to help get pregnant with Carver and I was taking it again, way longer than it took me to get pregnant the first time, but didn't get pregnant. So... we decided to give it a rest for a while and just enjoy the blessing we had been given.

Well... today it hit me again that I shouldn't be worrying about this anymore (because I always do)! God's timing was perfect the first time and it will be again or it won't be and that will be fine too! I have had to admit to myself these past few weeks that I really couldn't handle a second child right now. To me that meant admitting that I wasn't the 'perfect mom'... the one who does it all and with a smile on her face. The mother who gets up at 5am to get ready, cook her family breakfast, spend all day with her children, keep her house spotless, cook dinner for the family, and still be in a good mood by bedtime! :-) Now some days I feel like I can do this... others... not so much! I love being a SAHM more than anything I have ever done in my life. I wouldn't want to be doing anything else! I love being able to spend all day with my son.

However.... these days... my son has been more difficult than he has ever been!! Carver talks back (already) and says "stop it" all day long. Carver throws fits in stores and doesn't listen to a word I say! We spank, we do time out, and nothing is working well for me lately. I think I haven't been consistent enough because I just feel guilty. I feel like I am getting on to him non-stop and I don't like getting on to him all day long. I read blogs or see news stories of all these mothers who have lost children or who have sick children. I just feel so grateful for having a healthy son and guilty for wanting to send him to stay with someone else for a while. :-) I think about if something were to happen to him, how I would be sooooo upset with myself for getting on to him so much.

Tomorrow is going to be a different day! I am going to get back to being more consistent and getting rid of this new attitude of his! I have a responsibility as his mother, to teach him right from wrong and to teach him how to be respectful to his parents and others. I am going to go back to the focused mother I once was and get my son back! I am going to stop worrying about what could happen and focus on what is going on right now!

I am also going to quit worrying about a second child because... I can't handle another child right now! My son is needing all of my love and attention and there isn't enough to go around!

If you have read this... Thank you for listening! :-) I just needed to talk about it!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 10

I had my Stampin Up class a few nights ago and my very talented and sweet demonstrator, Joyce, showed us how to make these gift card holders. I knew immediately that this was something I wanted to make a few of to have on hand. I thought this color challenge was a great way to start. I just love these!

I also tried my hand at making some of Dawn's flowers! I have been wanting to make some since she posted how to do it! I stamped mine with Polka Dot Basics. I didn't have a good brad to use so I managed to get twine through all the flowers and the button!

This is the back of the card...

I prettied up one side of the card and added a few pearls. I used VersaMark to put some polka dots on the actual card holder. I meant to stick a gift card in the holder before I took the pics but I forgot! Oops!

I left the back side blank so this holder could double as a card. I can write whatever I want to write to the recipient!

I can't wait to make some more of these for birthday, for guys, etc... Fun Fun!

Supplies : all PTI (except VersaMark)
Stamps - Polka Dot Basics, Fancy Flourishes, Handwritten Notes, Trademarks
Paper - Dark Chocolate, Dark Chocolate Bitty Box Basics, Berry Sorbet Bitty Dot Basics, Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, Vintage Cream
Ink - Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream, Melon Berry
Other - Berry Sorbet Button, Rustic Cream Twine, Vintage Cream Ribbon, Pearls (also not PTI)

CPS 121

I still have a couple of 4th of July cards to make and I thought this sketch was a great guide for making one. This card is pretty plain but I like that sometimes! I don't know where I got the chipboard shapes from. They are just from my huge stash of stuff. Only since I started this blog (April 09) did I start making sure I knew where my goodies came from. I think I may have ordered them at some point from Oriental Trading!?!?!

Anyway.... Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card! :-)

Supplies:
Stamps - Studio G
Paper - Kraft, Pure Poppy Bitty Stars, Stampers Select White (all PTI)
Ink - True Black, Chai Tea Dye (both PTI)
Other - Chipboard shapes and Eyelets

How Cute is He?

Unfortunately, I didn't get any just great shots at any of our Father's Day festivities! I got some okay shots but none that I just really wanted to post. My sister-in-law, Brandy, took a good shot of myself, my brothers, and our dad BUT I look like a fat cow so... not posting that one! I really need to do something about that!

Anyway... I did get these cute shots of Carver on Sunday morning before church. I wanted to take a picture of him in his little outfit. I haven't put a one piece outfit on him in about a year or so. When I saw this little outfit at Gymboree (on sale), I had to get it. I thought it would probably be my last chance to dress him in a one piece outfit before he gets too big.

It has a little frog on it but you can't see it for his hands!

The bottom picture is Carver picking flowers out of the yard on our walk to the car. Carver can't resist picking those weeds! :-)

By the way.... I blogged like 5 0r 6 posts over the weekend... if you missed any of them... scroll on down!

A Message for Carver on Father's Day

My sweet Carver... you are so blessed to have such a wonderful father to call daddy! Your daddy loves you with all of his heart and has since the moment you were born. Your daddy is a Godly man who has spent his life telling others about Jesus. Your daddy plays with you and prays for you. Your daddy loves your mommy and allows mommy to stay home with you every day. Your daddy is slow to anger and always respectful in what he says.

Your daddy will show you the world and at the same time, teach you how to be above worldly things. Your daddy will protect you from the world by teaching you right from wrong. Your daddy will show you the beauty of God's creations and how to be thankful for whatever you have... every day! Your daddy will allow you to grow up and become your own man. Your daddy will pray for you, along the way, that you will make good choices in life. Your daddy will always be proud of you and love you no matter what!

What a wonderful man God has blessed you with to call daddy! Mommy didn't always make the best choices in life, but she sure did pick you a great daddy! I love you both!

Early Father's Day

Since Michael has to be at church early tomorrow morning (like usual), we gave him his Father's Day presents a little early. That means that I get to go ahead and post his card tonight since he has it in his possession already!

Here is a close-up of the sentiment. I stamped it under the vellum so it was hard to see in the picture without putting pressure on the vellum.

Supplies:
Stamps - Men of Life (PTI)
Paper - Guidelines I, Vellum (both PTI)
Ink - Real Red (SU)
Other - American Crafts Thickers and Eyelets

For My Father-in-law

This is the card that I made for my father-in-law, Orbie. I made it several nights ago but am posting it today in hopes that he won't see it before he receives it! That's right... my father-in-law reads my blog. Makes me feel special! :-) We are getting together tonight to celebrate with Michael's family so I am sure I will have another post with pictures later on.

On this card, I used Kraft paper and painted it with my Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint. I love that stuff! I put on a thin layer so the actual crackle is impossible to see in the picture. There is some crackle but not as much as if I would have painted it on thicker. I was scared to paint it on too thick in fear it would warp the paper.

I used some of my Cosmo Cricket Halfway Cafe paper to make the circle background. I used my Bazzill stitching products to stitch around the edges and then I added my Dad star. I have had this star for I don't know how long. A long time... I know that! I have always loved it so I have hung on to it. I love the washers (i think that is what those are...ha) inside the shaker box. I don't know what company made this or I would tell you.

Anywho... simple and easy. I am pretty pleased with this card. I have been pleased with all of my Father's Day card creations this year. Lets hope the recipients are!!

Kwerner Color Inspiration 55

This is my card for the latest Kwerner Color Challenge. I didn't use a whole lot of color on this card, but I do love the colors in this challenge. I chose to go with a simple card. I found a new sketch blog, here, and wanted to use this sketch. If you visit the blog, you will see I changed it up a bit by using words instead of another image. I added some dew drops at the bottom just to give it a little something more. I like plain and simple but it was a little too plain without the dew drops.

By the way... I have another post or two coming today so come back! :-)

Supplies:
Stamps - Everyday Words by Ali Edwards (Technique Tuesday)
Paper- Vintage Cream (PTI)
Ink - Really Rust, Basic Gray (both SU)
Other - More Mustard marker (SU), Getaway Dew Drops (The Robins Nest)

Trip to the Mall and Other Random Stuff

Carver and I went to the mall a few days ago to do some Father's Day shopping. It had been at least 6 months since we had been to the mall in Nashville. While we were there, we realized they now have a train ride that takes you all around the mall. Of course, Carver wanted to ride the train but since it was just he and I, we couldn't abandon the stroller (well.... I didn't want to) to take the ride. I promised Carver that we would come back with Daddy so one of us could ride with him. Well... we took him tonight! Carver was so excited to go back to the mall and get to ride the train. He has talked about it all day. Here are a few pics from our family trip to the mall. I don't think I have ever been to the mall to just play and not shop. It was nice!

This was Carver's other favorite part of the night. During our last trip to the mall, Carver and I stopped to see this hippo outside of The Rainforest Cafe. When we had to leave, he cried because he wanted to go back and see the hippo. I finally had to tell him that the hippo was sleeping and that seemed to do the trick.

Carver was happy to get to see his friend again tonight. Carver asked if he could give the hippo a kiss. He is so sweet (sometimes) !! Ha..

This picture is a little blurry, but between all the other kids coming over to see the hippo, I was only able to snap two shots in the five minutes we sat there. Oh well... you get the idea.

Onto the random stuff....

This is something I got at one of my favorite antique shops the other day. I got it for 10 bucks. I thought it was like one of those chip stands... you know where the chips clip on to it. I think that is what it is but when I was checking out, the woman wrote on a piece of paper that she sold the card holder. I thought that was funny since that is what I will be using it for. Maybe not cards, but other crafty goods. I am going to use it at the craft fairs this fall to hold packs of tags or something like that. Then I will start using it in my craft room to hang my favorite stickers, thickers, embellishments, etc. I just love it....!!

These are some pics of an approaching storm. We have had a lot of stormy weather lately and it has been so hot the past few days! I love storms! I don't know why. They scare me and I don't want anyone to get hurt or to lose their home. I guess I am just weird!

The last picture I want to share is of my sweet little boy sleeping in his big boy bed. I took this picture this past Sunday. I was trying to wake Carver up so we could get ready to head back to church and he DID NOT want to get out of bed. I thought it would be a good time to take a few shots of him sleeping!
