Stitched Cards

Here are my last two new cards that I submitted to the CARDS blog stitching challenge.

I made a Frankenstein card at this months SU workshop. On that card, we drew the scars and mouth on with a marker. I thought it would be fun to make another one and use stitching instead.

I always look forward to going to my class every month. Our demonstrator, Joyce, is so sweet and talented. I get to ride with my good friend, Alison, (who I love) and get to hang out with another friend Janet (who I also love). Of course there are other women in the class and I like all of them too. For the first year that I was in this workshop, I was in a different class that met on a different night. I was so thrilled to get to move into a class with a couple of my buddies. It is always fun crafting with friends!

Anyway... the other card... well... no inspiration behind it. I just had that arrow template and I thought it would be cute to stitch over a heart. Just a great little note to tuck away sometime in my hubby's suitcase or something!

Don't forget that we will announce the second Everything But the Kitchen Sink challenge bright and early on Friday morning! I hope you will all play along! There is a prize involved!! :)

On another note... I haven't shared anything 'personal' in a while. I guess I just haven't felt led to or... I have just been too 'busy' to listen. Tonight... I just want to share with you a little about our church and our high school kids.

I want to find a song and will have to post it later. It is a song that our high school band sings on Wednesday nights. I love it... it gets me emotional every time! But... let me tell you what gets me really emotional... seeing 75 plus or minus high school kids (not all of them but most) raising their hands, with their eyes closed (or open), and just worshiping God. I would NEVER have done that when I was a teenager. I still let my pride get the best of me a lot of times and think... who is going to be watching me and what will they think. The church I grew up in, you would never do that. You sang just to be singing... it wasn't really about true worship. Not to knock my childhood church... that is just how it was. You would probably have been kicked out of the church if you had done 'such a thing'! :)

I am soooo thankful to be at our church! I am so thankful that my son will grow up in a church where he will learn to worship and to not be ashamed. I mean... what are we going to be doing when we are in Heaven? We are going to be shouting and singing and raising our hands and dancing. Why don't we do that now? Pride?

Anyway... I just needed to share that. More as a confession than anything! I am so proud of those teenagers when I see them worship. I am ashamed at myself when I feel like I want to raise my hands in worship and I don't because of my own pride!

Hope you guys have had a wonderful Wednesday! I will see you again bright and early Friday morning! :)

Peace and Love!

Cute cards Kelley! I love the stitches, they too cute! :) God is so AMAZING, and to see teenagers do that, just proves it! Thanks for sharing, I have that song in my car and get so lost in worship while driving! It can be dangerous! :)

These cards are incredible!!! I love them from bottom to top! Have I already said that I love them? I do! This little arrow card! Tell your husband he must love it, or else!
This wonderful song gave me goosebumps, too! Thanks for sharing!

These cards are absolutely adorable, Kelly!!!! Great job with the stitching :) Worship is indeed the essence, the blood stream of the christian. Nothing thrills my heart more than to see young people rendering adoration to God. It's so powerful. You're not alone when you say that pride keeps you... I think deep down we all have a little something that keeps us from experiencing worship. We just have to pray to God to allow us to see it and to give us strength to be willing to surrender it... thankfully He's shown you already :)
Blessings and thanks for sharing that song and testimony with us ;)

Love that song, too, Kelley -- "the art of losing myself in bringing you praise..." It must be wonderful to see all those students praising the Lord together. Our church opens with about a 15-20 minute time of praise and worship and my eyes are closed most of the time so I'm not distracted by others and it also makes it easier for me not to think about what others are thinking... (does that make sense?). Although, at times when my eyes are open I'm so blessed by the genuine worship of others. Sounds like I grew up in a church much like yours and I clearly remember the first time I saw people raising their hands in worship -- I was so attracted to it. I'm so thankful to have spent the past 10 years in a church where people are free to worship with their entire being. And, you're right, isn't that what we'll be doing for eternity? Oh, man. I think I could go on and on here.
So, let's go to the cards. Great idea to stitch the Frankenstein. He looks "great" that way. :) And the arrow is wonderful, too. I haven't made a card for Ken in a long time. I think I better. The other night he was frowning at me as I was putting my new PTI sets together, saying "don't you have enough of that stuff?" He clearly doesn't get it. :)

I'm in the same boat with you! Sunday's service really got to me. I can't remember the last time I've cried like that in worship. Just seeing those students go down gets me!

Oh and I LOVE that song too! I wish Philip would do it! Thanks for getting my Thursday off to a good start!

Again, you amaze me. I LOVE your blog. Michael and I have talked about it. I know I've shared this befor with you, but what makes your blog so special "to me" is it's not all about you. It's about family, special times, worship, just life in general. I love spending my "once a month thursday nights with you!" We really have a great group of women in our class and I can't say enough about Joyce and the time and effort she puts into SU for "our" enjoyment. LOVE YOU!

Hey, Kelley! I have not commented lately because of busy-ness (I should be packing for a workshop RIGHT NOW), but don't think I haven't been looking! Eveything you do is so cute. Thanks for sharing about your high schoolers....that's how our church was, too! Now our youth group kids come into church and SIT IN THE FRONT PEWS!!! Visitors are amazed that the kids WANT to sit up front! Praise the Lord!

Frankie is soo cute. I think the stitching is perfect and better than drawing it it. The arrow is so cute too. You have a template for that? And what thread did you use? Embroidery?
