Thoughts on Being Busy

I have had a busy year... compared to the previous 5.

After a week of rest... I see just how busy.

God stopped me long enough to really listen to my son and see how long it had been.

And helped me see how long it had been since I had sat still and listened to Him.

I think I do most of the time.

And then I find myself hearing Him...

Are We There Yet with Avocado Arts

Hey there..

Today I am sharing a few cards that I made using Avocado Arts newest stamp set called Are We There Yet. Make sure to visit the store site and blog to check it out in its entirety.

Today is my last post with Avocado Arts. :(

It is time for me to move on and quit taking up space. As much as I love crafting... since my son started school... I just haven't been able to devote the time needed to be a good design team member!

I love this company... and the people behind it. I appreciate the opportunity I was given to be a part of the wonderful design team with so many talented ladies!  Thank you all!!

Peace Out!

Future's So Bright

Today I get to show a few cards that I made using Avocado Arts May stamp set called Future's So Bright. I LOVE this set! I love pictures. I love Instagram. I love polaroids. This has to be one of my all-time fav sets from Avocado Arts.

I used my Silhouette and a couple of AA Digi Files on two of my cards. I have been using my Silhouette a lot more lately so I thought I would use some of the digi files and change it up a bit. I still made one CAS stamping card! :)

Make sure to visit the Avocado Arts blog!

Photo post

The sun came out on our way home late this afternoon... after a day full of rain, rain, and more rain!

The sun, an empty Publix parking lot, a few rain puddles, a storm drain, rain boots and the fact that I had my camera... made for a great random photo shoot! I am in no way a professional photographer... I don't claim to be. BUT... I do see things that make me say "THAT is a great picture". Today I had one of those moments! If I knew how to actually work my camera ... and if I would actually edit these photos (instead of being lazy)... they would be better.  I love them just because of who is in them! :) One day I will learn.... one day!

Guest Post on Branch Out Designs

Today I have the privilege of being a guest on Branch Out Designs!

When Emily asked me to be a guest on her blog... I, of course, said that I would love to! I decided that for my post... I would like to design a card based on a pin from Pinterest. This is the pin that I chose to work from...

Aren't those eggs so cool? I am very much into black and white right now! I love stripes and numbers... which is why I chose to incorporate those into my card. I will be 36 years old in a couple of weeks so I decided to make myself a birthday card to share with you. :) A card making girl has got to make herself a birthday card, right? :)

My card making style has always been clean and simple. This past year my style has become more minimalist than just clean and simple and it is reflected in all areas of my life... not just in my crafting! I will be forever grateful for my time spent in the crafting and blogging world for many reasons. It helped me realize and embrace that being crafty is a part of who I am. It has also helped me to understand what my style is and embrace that as well.

The card I shared today could be seen as plain or blah or whatever. To me.... it is a design that catches my eye... and that is what is most important. It isn't what other people think about your work that matters. It is important for you (and me) to know what we are drawn to and to enjoy creating. In my experience... when I try to make anything other than what I love... it never works out and I don't enjoy the process!

My card took a total of 5 minutes...at most... to make! It isn't fancy... it isn't anything but a black and white minimalist design... and I love it! :) So my lesson for the day... be who you are and design what you love... and be proud of it! :)

I used two of my favorite stamp sets to make this card. I used Background Basics: Super Stripes from Papertrey Ink and I used the Document Wooden Alphabet Stamps by Amy Tangerine from American Crafts.

Thank you Emily for allowing me to take up space on your blog! :) I am honored!!

Peace and Love!

Peep Tag for Avocado Arts

Today part of the Pit Crew are sharing projects we made using the March stamp set from Avocado Arts. The set is called Spring Medley... and one of my favorite parts of this set is that super cute (and big) peep!! You can find the set here.

My project is very simple. I wanted to make Carver a tag to go on his Easter basket. I stamped the image, cut it out (or you could use the digi cut files), and added some twine. I used a sharpie to add his name and now it hangs on my pegboard... waiting for Easter! :)

Special Delivery with Avocado Arts

Today the Pit Crew Too are sharing one last project using the Avocado Arts February set called Special Delivery! You can see the full set below...

For my project...  I used my Cameo to cut a cute little happy meal style box. I stamped some AA goodness on it, assembled, filled with candy and added some twine! Easy Peasy! Something cute and 'sweet' to leave for a co-worker, spouse, or child... just because! How much better would your day be if someone did that for you? Sometimes the little things mean the most!

A Discovery Worth Sharing

While I was shopping in Staples the other day... I ran across some of this Creative Covering by Con-Tact. The packaging says it is Adhesive Covering and that it is Removable. Hmmm.... sure looks a lot like vinyl and it is a huge roll... 18 in x 24 ft. Luckily... a lawbreaker before me had opened a roll of the blue so.... since it was already open... I took a feel and it felt a lot like vinyl.

I took a chance and bought a roll.

So... the next day... I cut a shape (that the hubby purchased for me for Valentines Day... thanks honey!!) with my Silhouette Cameo and guess what... works just like vinyl! Score!!

$10.99 a roll... I do believe I will have a few (at some point)! :) I have my eye on some blue and green. I also saw yellow but it looked too thin... you could see the backing paper through it.

The same day... I saw some wood grain rolls in Wal-Mart (same brand as in Staples)... in the shelf liner section. I don't think I would want that in my cabinets... but it might look cool as something cut from my Cameo!?!

Later the same day I made a stop at JoAnn's. They have some new (to my store) vinyl sheets for sale. While I LOVE the colors... a sheet of 13x19 (approx) vinyl is $3.99. Those will be great if you have a very specific project you want to do and have a half off coupon!

As for me... I am excited about my discovery! I feel like I can make lots of stuff for myself and/or others... without breaking the bank!

Peace and Love!

This Makes Me Happy

I found these ink sticks yesterday at Joann's! I didn't 'need' them... but at $4.99 each and with 2 - 50% off coupons... I had to bring them home! I can't explain how happy my heart was when I saw them... knowing how long I have 'needed' them!

They are part of the Smash line from K & Company in case you 'need' some too! :)

It is the little things...

I wanted to share some cards that Carver and I made for a Valentines card drive. I thought it would be fun to stamp the images and let him color some. He was happy to be able and 'make' his own cards!

Happy Valentines Day!

Celebrate

I have not been a great blogger over the past year or so! I really really really want to do better! I am still trying to figure out a game plan... when I have time to think about it! :)

In an effort to get started... I thought I would share a card today that I made for my SIL last month.

She and I have had many conversations lately about Pinterest and home improvement projects. I thought this 'girl power' card would be appropriate for her birthday!

BTW... don't forget that I have a lot of stamps for sale on my For Sale page! I have sold quite a few but I still have plenty left that I would love to send to a new home! :)

I thought it would be fun to make a baby card using this image and sentiment. I didn't have great baby paper but when I ran across this paper... I thought this could be a non-traditional baby card or a birthday card so I went with it! :)

Photos

Saturday (yesterday) was Michael's birthday! We were on our way to the mall and decided that since the sun was out.... it would be a nice day to take a few pictures. These are a few of my fav.... taken by me, Michael and even a few by Carver.  None are edited!

Michael wants to Photoshop a train behind us in the 'running' pictures! :)

I love these pictures.... they were a happy accident! :) Michael didn't notice the reflection until after he took them all!
