Tuesday Trigger - Hoot Hoot

As soon as I saw this weeks Tuesday Trigger over at Cath's Moxie Fab... I knew I had to play. I love this owl pillow and the fact that this weeks challenge was inspired by my IRL crafting friend, Courtney... well... you see why I had to play! Plus... I have issues when it comes to missing out on a Moxie Fab challenge. I think I could benefit from some therapy! :) Lots of it!

I really need to be working on some stuff for a craft fair one week from today but... I can't stop making cards! :)

Just an FYI... I am chatty tonight so this is probably going to be a long post. Sorry... we did some early trick or treating tonight and I think it has a lot to do with all of the candy I have had! :) We just can't get around to all of our family in one night and stay more than 5 mins at each place. So... we just trick or treat two nights! We always take him to my mom and my MIL's work places so Nana and Granna can show little Carver man off! :) That boy is spoiled rotten!

ANYWAY... back to the card Kelley.... back to the card! So... can I say that I love this card? Is that okay? That probably means that most of you will NOT like it... seems to work out that way a lot of times! I guess I have bad taste or something!

Stay focused.... This card took a long time to make so I think that is why I am attached to it. It took a lot of brain power. :) I used one owl stamp from Prima. I wanted to have two owls that faced each other so I had to figure out how to make that happen. To get my second owl, I had to stamp the backside of the papers and cut out the pieces. Then... I had to draw with a black marker around the edges to make it look like it was stamped on the pp side. THEN I realized that I was going to have to draw squiggly lines on the belly of my backwards owl (since there were squigglies on the other one) SO.... I had to use my 'correct' owl belly as a template and cut another owl belly with no squigglies. Finally.... two owls facing each other.

So then came the piecing of the owls! They didn't fit together quite right so I had to distress them to hide the imperfections and one poor owl almost didn't win the battle against the tombow adhesive. I kept taking the pieces apart to try and fit them together better and I just prayed that I didn't have to start all that cutting over! Am I lazy? I think so!!

I painted my tree branch with Tim Holtz distress crackle paint so it looks cool IRL. Hard to see in the pic (no sunshine here... just clouds and rain). I used PTI's Soft Stone as my card base instead of white. I love that stuff and don't use it often enough!

After everything was dry and put together... I stamped my sentiment. Well... wouldn't you know that since I am rubber challenged and it was rubber stamp... I got a little stray ink under the Hoot. Why do I keep doing this when I know better? :) I decided the best way to cover it up (and easiest) was to just draw a line under the Hoot. I think it works!?!?! Oh... and in case you can't read what it says... It says... Friends of a Feather Hoot Together!!

So... that is my card. If you made it this far into my post... I love you! :) For those of you who didn't... well... you just missed out on an I love you! :)

BTW... one of my stitched flower cards was featured on the CARDS blog today. Woo Hoo!! Very exciting!!

Peace and Love!!

Hey Kelley! You went to a lot of trouble to create this card--TFS--but I love all the clever ways you thought of to get to the end result you wanted. And those owls are so darned cute!

I read to the end :) and I love you, too, but, man, you better lay off the candy at night, girl! :) Such a cute card -- and loved hearing the trials you went through creating it. Oh, you're so like me. I don't think I've ever thrown a card away and I rarely start over -- I just make it work, somehow. For me I think it's just that I'm cheap -- can't stand to throw away something that I've spent time and money on!! Caught up on your other posts, too. Love the pics from the pumpkin patch -- oh, so cute -- and preschool, too. You know I would love a preschool pic! Thanks for sharing. And, back to the owls, love the way you made them facing each other and reversed the paper placement on each. And, sometimes those stray marks just end up working. The line under hoot really brings your eye down to the sentiment. (By the way, I've been dipping into the candy bowls this morning... can you tell? Guess it makes me chatty, too!) Have a great Halloween!
