MTTC Sketch Challenge 32

I saw this sketch challenge on a blog that I frequent. I have participated in several challenges since starting my blog a month ago. After much thought, I finally decided that I was going to skip this one. The main reason being, I don't want to have so many cards just laying around waiting to be sent to someone. I almost feel bad making cards for challenges without someone in mind to give it to. I feel like if I didn't make it special for that person, they will know! :-)

About 30 minutes after I finally decided to not participate in this challenge, I received a prayer chain email from our church. The email was about one thing... a birthday coming up for a young lady, Mary Jo, who is very sick. Mary Jo will be 14 years old in a few days. The email told of her birthday coming up and gave her address in case anyone wanted to send her a card.

Mary Jo has been through so much in her short life. Before her family moved out of state, they attended our church so I knew about her health issues. I always cared for her and wanted to see good things happen for her and her family. But... it wasn't until I became a mother myself that I truly felt for this family. I couldn't actually hurt for her and her family the way I can now. I think about Mary Jo a lot. I think about Mary Jo's family a lot. I can't imagine what her mother and father go through watching their sweet little girl suffer so much!

I knew instantly that God wanted me to participate in this challenge and to send this card to Mary Jo. Too many things were just right there in front of me. First of all, I received the prayer email just minutes after ending my 'do I, don't I' battle. An extra challenge for this sketch was to make it a birthday card. The woman who put out this challenge, Lauren, has a child who has battled cancer.

I would have made Mary Jo a card anyway. I just feel like God was making it easy for me by giving me the layout to use. Maybe I would have made an ugly card without it. :-)

Thanks God! I can always count on you to lend a helping hand! and a little push...

What a lovely card with such bright and cheery colors. I'm glad you listened to that voice - we so often lose that quiet nudging in our busy and noisy lives. I'm sure your thoughtfulness will be appreciated. Thanks for playing - great job with the challenge - come back again. Hugs n smiles.

What a wonderful piece of happy mail. And your story of how the card came about is an endearing one. So glad that inner voice was encouraging you and that the challenge could lend a helping hand.
