Raspberry Suite Challenge 14

This is my submission for Dawn's latest color challenge. I love these colors! Dawn always has the best color combos!

This is the first time I have inked up my Polka Dot Basics II. Love It!!

I am sooooo excited about the new stuff coming out this month for PTI! Well... lets be honest... I usually am every month! What great stamp sets and OH MY... red and purple buttons!! Yum Yum!

You guys have any favorites this month? Would love to hear what my buddies are planning to purchase!

One other question that is kind of random... anyone out there have any advice/tips for taking toddlers to the beach? As far as... what to bring that I might not think of, etc!?!

Our family is planning a trip, hopefully sometime soon, to the beach. I really really really want to take Carver to the beach this year and capture some great moments on film (well... digital whatever). Michael knew of a Christian retreat that will let pastors and their families stay for free during their off season (which is like August - May). So... that is hard to pass up! That is a wonderful thing for them to do and I am so thankful that it is close enough that we may be able to take advantage of their generosity!

Anyway! I am chatty tonight! :)

I did get to visit some blogs today with minimal crazy computer stuff! It did start acting up again tonight but ... that is ok. It gave me time to work on this card!

Well... I will shut up now! Peace and Love!

Supplies:
Stamps - Polka Dot Basics II, Text Background (both PTI)
Paper - Vintage Cream, Plum Pudding, Scarlet Jewel (all PTI)
Ink - VersaMark, Plum Pudding (PTI)
Other - Scarlet Jewel Ribbon and Raspberry Fizz Button (PTI), Sizzix Flower Layers Die, Clear Rhinestones (Kaiser), Filigree Emboss Powder (PTI)

Oh pretty pretty! I love that layered up flower and the embossed polka dots are a shiney TREAT!

The beach...aside from sunscreen, extra clothes a towel and a bucket bring a bottle of baby powder! Once you are ready to brush the day's sand off, pile on the baby powder to help the sand fall away. It's especially helpful in the um, hard to dislodge sand areas, KWIM? Oh, and may I suggest a spray sunscreen? My friend's son actually gave himself a major scratch on his wee face when trying to brush sand off so the spray on sunscreen means less times having to rub junior's face and delicate skin. Have fun, take the camera :)

Kelley, I love your purple polkas!! And topped with a handmade texted flower?! Too cute! :>

As for a trip to the beach....love those! I agree with Dana on the spray sunscreen! It also works really well for fair haired kidlets' scalps! Just a wee spot on the top of my son's head and the entire part on my daughter's!! A burn there is No fun!! And other than extra towels and clothes and drinkable water, I recommend CUPS! You really don't need fancy dancy sand castle, sand forming toys and tools, just something to DIG with, a bucket to hold a resevoir of water back near where you are sitting, and any kind of cups! We've brought disposable tupperware (guess that's Gladware or something of the like.....I don't pay attention to brand names of that stuff....I look at price and its function!), those red plastic cups from Costco, and my Mom even brought her old plastic measuring cups (I remember those from when I was a kidlet myself....yellow and lime green! :>) when she took them! Dig, fill, wet...start all over. That seems to be what both of mine loved as toddlers (and still do!). Have a GREAT time! :>

Love the card -- those gems in your button look great! I wasn't going to purchase anything from PTI this month, but I don't know that I'll be able to resist.
As far as the beach goes, what about a kite? Nothing fancy and he may be a little young for it to hold his attention very long, but they do love see kites fly high in the breeze. Also, if your beach trip takes you through Charlotte and you have time to stop, let me know. I'd love to meet you!

I really NEED to get the text background from PTI - along with soooo many other things! Love how you used it on the flower & I love the distressed edges of the polka dot layer.

the beach sounds sooo fun! love the advice from Karen about the old school plastic measure cups - perfect for little hands with a sturdy handle :)

Yea it looks like we had the same idea, embossed dots on purple! Your flower is really pretty.

Well, as you know I don't have kids, but with the spray sunscreen I would like to stress still rubbing over it a little, even if it says NO RUB! I made this mistake in june and half my leg burned! Maybe using the rub on stuff to start the day so you make sure you get everywhere and reapply throughout with the spray is the best. Oh and hats are always good. You know how anti-sun I am. :)

Isn't Polka Dots II addicting! Sounds like everyone else has the beach stuff covered. I strongly agree with the spray sunscreen, its quick and easy!!! Snacks, of course are a necessity!!! :)

firstly, this card makes me drool! I'm waiting for my Polka Dots stamps (except I bought the first version) to arrive any day now.
As for the beach......loads of sunblock, extra clothes, towels, snacks, hat, beach toys, water wings...as for sand.....the beaches we go to here in Croatia a pebble beaches so you get the occasional pebble stuck between the cheeks but no need for baby powder!! ;)
Hope you'll get to go on your trip!!

OOOOOOOOHHHHHH! Kelley, love this card. It's beautiful! And love those polka dots.

Yay for going to the beach! It is my most favorite place on earth. Our family has a beach house on the Oregon Coast....and so my boys have kinda grown up there in a way. They can still go there and play all day in the sand and water and not get bored. Carver will LOVE it! How exciting. Here's my only advice. Sometimes when we head off for the sand, we load up the wagon with toys, and balls, and everything immaginable...and we always have fun, but I have to say that some of the best times we have had are those when we leave everything behind at the house and just take ourselves....you would think the kiddos would get restless without all their "stuff" but it's just the opposite. It seems like we have MORE fun! So I would suggest atleast once, just go out and walk the beach with nothing but yourselves....and maybe a mesh bag for any "treasures" that you find! Sorry this was so long....have a happy day!

We're Frog sun block fans. Some of my guys are dark skinned, but some are true white, so they need great sun block. Frog never fails. We use the spray (and buy a clear zinc for the face).
No matter what towel you buy them, they want yours! We went to the beach with our entire family. If you want to stay down at the beach the most, invest in a tent you can put up and leave all day, pack a snack igloo with lunch, snacks and drinks! Inner tubes are great, buckets for little guys (in various sizes, and for a car ride, if your van doesn't have a video thing, then use a traveling one, pack crayons and something to color!

Again, like always, I love your card!

I LOVE the polka dots!! How cute! We always bring a big water jug full of water for rinsing feet just before getting in the car (and if the kids are REALLY sandy, we strip them and wash them off with the water. Our kids never want to eat much when we go to the beach, though that never stopped us from packing lots of snacks, but we always bring lots to drink! Hope you have a fun trip!

Wow Kelley! I've been out of town for a few days and what a treat to see all of your great button cards! Love that little bird - that must have been the idea you were thinking of ;0). Todays card is also supercute! Love how you put the colors together. As for the beach, the only warning I have is that my boys would always forget how "sticky" sand was and would almost everytime rub their eyes and get sand in them. So just keep an eye out for that (no pun intended :0)

Hey Kelly! This is so cute! I love that polka dot stamp, I need to get it! Let me know how that place is if you go stay there! Free sounds good! :) Over at Sarah Martina's blog she just was just asking bloggers what she should bring to the beack for her kids. She made a list, I thought it might help you. :)http://sarahmartina.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/true-friend-acetate-beach-list/

Congratulations to you, too, for being In the Spotlight on this challenge! Way to go!! (Love those gems in your button flower center -- did I say that before?)

congrats on making the spotlight! I love the flower with the text print and your polka dots!

As far as the beach goes, I agree with everyone that mentioned the spray sunscreen. So much less of a mess than the rub on kind and so quick too. I would be sure to reapply it often. When we go we usually take a few sand toys, a big blanket, some snacks that are easy to eat like fresh fruit, go-gurt or yogurt crush cups, granola bars, and LOTS of water and juice. A beach umbrella or a tent is great.
Have fun! We have had some wonderful times with our kids at the beach and we plan to go again this weekend.

Great card! Congrats on making the spotlight! Have fun at the beach. It sounds like everyone's got you covered on what to take: sunscreen, hats, toys, food, towels, umbrella, floaties, chairs, baby powder (to get the sand off). You'll have a lot of fun!
